Your questions, our answers

Have questions about installation, the durability of CIGS panels, or real fuel savings? We've gathered our customers' most common questions in one place. If you haven't found the answer to your question, please contact us directly.

What is the difference between CIGS panels and silicon panels?

CIGS panels are ultralight, flexible, and free of glass and aluminum. They're only 2-3 mm thick, don't require frames, don't add any weight to the roof, and are mounted with adhesive—no drilling required. They don't suffer from the micro-cracks that typically plague silicon panels.

What roofs can CIGS panels be installed on?

On almost all roofs, including PVC, TPO, EPDM, felt, sheet metal, trapezoidal roofs, arched roofs, facades, and even roofs with very low load-bearing capacity. CIGS is the only solution that does not require reinforcing the roof structure.

How are CIGS panels installed? Do you need to drill?

No, the installation is 100% glued, without perforating the roof covering. This ensures the roof remains airtight, does not void the warranty, and does not require additional structures.

Are CIGS panels resistant to hail and extreme conditions?

Yes. The panels undergo testing:
- hail 25 mm (IEC),
- and extreme tests with golf balls at 182 km/h (RISE, Sweden). Mechanical tests up to 5400 Pa confirm resistance to snow and wind.

What is the warranty on CIGS panels?

- 25-year product warranty
- 25-year performance warranty
- typical degradation < 0.5% per year

Additionally, the systems have fire protection certificates: BROOF(t2), BROOF(t3), UL 790 Class A/C.

Are CIGS panels fireproof?

Yes.
The panels have the highest fire safety certificates:
- BROOF (t2) – Scandinavia
- BROOF (t3) – France
- UL 790 Class A/C – USA and EU

They are approved for installation on roofs: bituminous, metal, membrane and
composite.

Are CIGS panels ESG/CSRD compliant?

Yes, CIGS is one of the best solutions on the market because:
- lowest PV carbon footprint
- full EU production
- short supply chain
- no glass and aluminum
- 63% of materials are recycled
- 98% of the module is recyclable

This has a real impact on reducing Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.

Do CIGS panels require maintenance?

No, virtually zero maintenance. No glass or frames means no need to clean limescale or salt deposits.

How long does it take to install CIGS panels?

A team of 2 installers installs:
- nawet 50 kW per day
- without ballast
- without construction
- no perforation
- no downtime in the hall/plant

Are the panels compatible with energy storage and inverters?

Yes, CIGS works with any standard on-grid or off-grid inverter. And in transportation, it powers vehicle batteries directly.

What are the applications of CIGS panels?

Applications:
- roofs of logistics and industrial halls
- roofs of houses, housing estates, commercial buildings
- facades
- truck and specialized transport
- campers, trailers
- boats and yachts
- portable sets
- military and mobile operations

Do CIGS panels increase the value of a building?

Yes:
- improved energy class
- ESG / CSRD compliance
- BREEAM / LEED scores
- lower energy costs
- no interference with the roof

This is standard in modern logistics and warehouse parks.

Does CIGS perform better in the shade or at high temperatures?

Yes, CIGS performs better in hot conditions and has lower thermal losses than silicon. In partial shade, CIGS modules produce more stable output, and their performance doesn't falter like traditional PV.

Are CIGS panels suitable for roofs with low load-bearing capacity?

Yes. They weigh only 2.8–2.9 kg/m², which is 10× less than silicon (18–22 kg/m²).

Perfect for roofs:
- hal magazynowych
- retail
- logistycznych
- przemysłowych
- membran PVC/TPO/EPDM
- domów modułowych, osiedli mieszkaniowych

Is it possible to walk on the panels?

Yes – in service mode. The modules are designed for normal loads and do not break like silicon.

Can CIGS panels be installed on facades?

Yes, the panels are flexible and can be glued to:
- HPL
- composites
- facade sheet metal
- concrete facades
- BIPV architectural designs.

They look very aesthetically pleasing – a uniform black surface.

What is the CO₂ footprint of CIGS panels?

Only 6 g CO₂/kWh, i.e.:
- 7–8 times less than a silicon panel,
- the lowest on the PV market,
- ideal for ESG, CSRD, BREEAM, LEED, DGNB projects.

Do CIGS panels really have no microcracks?

Yes, the absence of glass and brittle silicon cells eliminates the risk of micro-cracks. EL tests show 0 micro-cracks, even after:
- transport
- hail,
- strong wind,
- strokes (golf test).

How do CIGS panels affect roof temperature?

In Midsummer testing:
In the Midsummer tests, the bitumen-coated panels lower the roof temperature by several degrees.
- on metals they act as an additional protective layer. The roof lives longer thanks to UV and temperature protection.

How much energy do CIGS panels produce?

Power varies between Slim/Bold/Wave models, but production is comparable to silicon panels because:
- CIGS cover 90-95% of the roof surface
- classic silicon panels – only 60–80% Larger surface area = more energy = higher annual yield.
